What is this? An entry? On my LJ? *le gasp*

Seriously though, I should update this thing more often. How else will people know what is going inside that head of mine? Or what's going on in my life, for that matter. Heaven knows I'm not going to speak up about it without prodding and poking and words of encouragement. Talking is just so difficult sometimes. It's so much easier to be quiet and listen and occasionally pipe in with appropriate comments and questions. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I quite like being a listener. I just sometimes wish making small talk didn't take such an effort...

Oh man, listen to me... My first entry in 7 months, and I sidetrack when I got news to share; I got a new friend ^_^ His name is Shakespeare, and he came in the mail yesterday. I knew it was the start of a wonderful friendship the minute I opened the box and, to my great delight, discovered that the lid of this wonderful piece of technology is blue! I spent yesterday afternoon and most of today getting him up and started, giving him his name, getting online, downloading and installing and customizing to my heart's delight. I even badgered Joakim into giving me the "Torrent 101" before work ^_^ And I'm having such fun deciding on names for all the other components. My mouse has, after years of loyal service, finally been baptized Horatio, my mp3-player has been renamed Ariel, my 1tb external hard drive shall henceforth be known as Prospero, and my smaller but sturdier 250gb portable hard drive is named Puck. I have yet to come up with a name for my new headphones, though. Or my speakers for that matter... Does anyone know if Shakespeare ever wrote a play with twin characters in it? Or maybe I could name them Guildenstern and Rosencrantz...

In other news, I have over the month of June become a whovian and a shameless DT-fangirl ^_^

MAN, it's been long since I've bothered updating my LJ! A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone, by the way ^_^

Ok, first thing first, I no longer work at Nidar. The season ended, and when you're a season-worker, that sort of stuff does affect you. My last day of work there was wednesday 12th of november. I spent the rest of november being unemployed, then struck gold when I called around for a christmas job on the 1st of december. One of the places I called was Coop Obs! City Syd, and the boss asked me if I could drop by the following day for an interview. I did, and he told me that they would call me thursday at the latest if they wanted to hire me. Later the same day they called me and asked if I could start the next day. So I've been working the register at Coop Obs! since 3rd of december, and things are looking good for me still having a job there now that december has passed. I'll know for sure on saturday, which will be my first day of work since Christmas Eve (and I had a wonderful Christmas, btw, and I loved the gifts I got ^^).

In other news, I got home yesterday from a 5 day trip to Prague! It was a Christmas gift from my parents to me, my little brother and themselves, and it was great! Very tiring, but fun ^_^ We traveled with my aunt Eli and her boyfriend Carl, who had been there before.
While I was there, I wrote a mini journal which I am posting here for your entertainment. I also took several pictures, but they will have to wait til a later post.

"Working hard or hardly working?"

bah, jareth
Hardly working? Pft, I wish... Trust me, working at a factory makes you treasure the weekends like never before. Anyway, first week of work is over, and I will begin the second week this afternoon. I'm working in Nid9, where such yummy treats as bamsemums, festkarameller and toffee sfinx is made ^^ The first two weeks are 2shift weeks (which is rather meh, because the dayshifts start so early and the eveningshifts end so late that I can't rely on the bus, meaning I have to drive >.< ), but starting from weeks 34 we'll be switching over to 3shift weeks; one week with nigtshifts, one week with eveningshifts and one week with dayshifts. And these shifts thankfully start and end early and late enough for the bus to be an alternative.

In other news, I snagged this meme... )
nightcrawler showering, stupid steam..., blue hawtness
Well, this is interesting... I am, at the moment, a guiniea pig, putting my sense of smell on the line for the sake of SCIENCE! for roughly two hours, in return for a CD with pictures of my brain and two scratching tickets. In theory, at least. The people here are having difficulties getting the MR-machine-thingy to work, so we went ahead and did some smelling tests that were supposed to be done after the MR-run, and now that we're done with those I was given access to internet while we're waiting for the bloody thing to work as it should. Apparently, this is the first test scheduled since a lot of cables were replaced after a system crash or failure or something :/
I might have to come back at a later time, if the guy they just called can't fix the problem.

Anyway, other news. I has a job! Only until roughly mid february, though, if I do well. Still, that's potentially six and a half months of working experience, a chance of getting a reference from someone I'm not related to, and most importantly, well paid. After calculating a bit, I've come to the conclusion that I will most likely earn more than NOK 20.000 each month! And all it will cost me is any appreciation I might ever have for marzipan ever again. I have been hired to help out Nidar with their Christmas and Easter production, primarily the marzipan division. I will be working in shifts, though, which means that my rp-attendance will become rather reduced. In any case, rp'ing into the wee hours of the night will be out of the question, sadly. Oh well...

EDIT: Meh, the thingie refused to be cooperative (until about 30 minutes after I had left, I have been notified by mail), so a new date was agreed upon before I was sent home. Going back on 11th of july to try again. On my way home I stopped by the store and got foodstuffs for bbqing tonight, as well as a klippekort so I don't have to pay quite that much for riding the bus.

Wow... Ok, imagine this; after spending three weeks working yourself to the bone with a home exam, you get the impressive amount of two hours of sleep/rest before attending a four hour long english exam. You forgot your dictionary, you're feeling a bit light-headed, and sitting still soon becomes uncomfortable. All that considered, you hand in something you figure is worth a C, but taking into consideration that your judgment might not be at its best at the moment, you decide to tell yourself it will be a D and maybe get pleasantly surprised to get a C. The grades from this exam was posted on Studentweb this morning. I got a B. Needless to say, I was in a very good mood as I walked down to the dentist today, and was actually still in a good mood when I was done ^_^

I spent the monday with my mom, after first dropping by the doctor to have some of my blood squeezed out of me for testing. The day included going to a foot-care clinic, having me feet pampered with for the first time, and being told that my feet are very nicely shaped and that I was right to walk around barefoot as much as I did. Then later we picked up my little brother and set off to see Anne Beate, a friend of my mom's that we pay under the table to cut our hair. My mom is in the habit of dying her hair to cover her grey hairs, and sent me into the store to get Nutrisse number 10 (light blond), because we knew from experience that they didn't sell number 9, which is the one she usually use. Only, as I got back into the car and we drove away from the store, we noticed that it didn't cover grey hairs, which was why she used number 9 in the first place. So, we had to take a small detour to a store that actually sold number 9, and on the way she somehow managed to talk me into using the number 10 we had already bought. (The 100 nok she gave me as a bribe helped, of course, as did the fact that she decided me little brother should dye his hair too. He refused to go blond or red, though, so he ended up with black.) So yes, my hair is now several shades lighter than it normally is.

Another fun thing that happened on monday was that as I looked through the DVD-section in a Norli on Heimdal, I suddenly found myself facing the complete first season of Shagma, that french animated series from the 1980's. It was so unexpected and left me so stunned with nostalgia that I just stood and stared at the box until my mom came to see what took me so long. She immediately went "Aww, Shagma! I remember that show!", and I ended up buying it. I've seen through the first DVD so far.

Let's see, other news... I has a Folklore! The PS3 game, that is, and it is teh awesome despite the abuse of exclamation marks and the word "aieee" in the story sequences, and the almost anime "donning the magical cloak" sequence. I have so far managed to get to chapter five with both of the playable characters (the haunted young Ellen and the occult magazine reporter Keats). Oh, and did I mention that the characters speaks with Irish accents in the movie sequences? *squee!!*

As for the rest of the week, it looks like it will be busy enough. Tomorrow there will be Marvel for the first time in a looong time, on friday I have the whole job interview thing at Nidar, and I have to find something to occupy myself with in the afternoon because my little brother has asked to get the house to himself that evening so he can celebrate his birthday in advance with his friends, on saturday I have been invited to [info]wistomaniac's birthday party, and come sunday there will be Mage.

But now, I think, it is time for bed. G'night.

My to do-list for today:
~ Somehow get my ass out of the house and down to Outland
~ Not hyperventilate as I do my best to build up the courage to ask whether they will be hireing someone for the summer, or even better, on a long-term basis.
~ If yes; give them my CV and wing it from there. If no; give them my CV anyway and ask them to keep me in mind when they one day do need a new employee.
~ If I'm not a complete wreck after this; go to Brunhjørnet and repeat the previous two steps.
~ Go home, breathe, and calm down with a cup of tea
~ Start applying for the jobs I've found online that looks like something I have a chance to get hired for

EDIT: The best laid plans of mice and men, and so forth... As I completely and utterly failed to carry out step one, this to do-list has now been postponed with one day.

03.06.08: Oh, for the love of... Ok, the to do-list is postponed to wednesday. If I still fail to carry out step one then, someone come and give me a solid kick in the arse.

I liked today... Seriously, today was awesome. Not "wow, blew my mind away"-awesome, but still awesome as in "crammed full of little ups"-awesome, beginning with some tidying up in my room which led to finding a bag with some jewelry I hadn't seen since last year's HP thing and that I thought I'd left behind on Tjøme or something. Then there was bacon-lunch, and because the bus only goes once an hour on sundays my dad offered to drive me to Paul's place, where there was Mage ^_^ And then, when [info]eldir left for family dinner thing, I got to play Wii for the first time ever, which was freakishly much fun. When I got hungry, I went down to Sesam and bought a burger there for the first time ever, and the guys behind the counter were in such good moods and checked with me a couple of times that they remembered what I'd ordered correctly so that I wouldn't get any nasty surprises (like mayo, tomato or cucumber). I ended up leaving 5nok in the tip jar. Then [info]eldir came back from the family dinner thing, and we carried on with Mage. Honestly, who knew infiltrating an old folks home could be so fun?

Speaking of Mage, I think I have a suggestion for a possible theme; band. You know, you have the lead singer, backup singers, first guitar, second guitar, drummer, bass, keyboard, manager... bagpipes... Whatever floats your boat, basically. I think that if Skadi's boyfriend Awakens and joins the cabal, he'll suggest that theme.

Did I mention that I'm tired and a bit random at the moment?

Oh well, tomorrow I will get my ALTI2203 home exam, which means that the next three weeks will be increasingly ...interesting... as the deadline for handing it in approaches.

Meh... Skipped today's lectures due to waking up late with the remains of a headache I got during yesterday's mage-session. Still, yesterday was great ^^ My little norwegian mage became a real member of the Mysterium, possibly embraced the role universe has given her as a tool of destiny by maybe being the reason why the Condiments disappeared in a flash of silvery light 70 years ago, and (semi-oficcially) became the scribe of the cabal, which has finally decided on a name (the Eye of the Storm) and a sigil (feathered snake coiled around a lightningstruck sycamore tree). Yeah, anyway, have now bought the first dot of mystery initiation and the second dot of mentor (because Ahura Mazda must have gone "*smirk* That's my apprentice..." at some point of the initiation).

Other randomness; I've started watching the Pretender again, and boy, is it a blast from the past! I had totally forgotten how cute Michael Weiss is, especially when he smiles, and how kickass awesome Andrea Parker is.

Just another quick update, 'cause if I don't take a small break from assignment-writing I'll go stir crazy -.-' Fairly confident that I'll manage to finish it in time, though. The end product might even actually be good.

In other news, today it is 24 years since I finally could be bothered to leave the comfort of my mother's womb. Even with the assignment looming over me (and even though I had to wake up at 6:30 am so that we could do the whole wake-up-with-birthday-song-and-goodies-and-presents-thing before my brother and my dad had to run to catch the bus), today has been a good day. My brother, being ever the darling, got me the PSP-version of Final Fantasy I ^_^ And my parents gave me a BEAUTIFUL blue glass vase, a gift certificate for one hour of having my feet pampered at Flatåsen Fotklinikk, a bottle of bubbly pear cider, 20(!) 0,7l bottles of Bon Aqua Silver with lemon flavor and 24(!) kinder eggs (my mother has a very strange sense of humor sometimes). In addition came the standard NOK200 from grandparents and uncles Totto and Bernt, and the additions to my collection of silver wear from Gran and aunt Eli w/ boyfriend Carl. I have also gotten several sms with congratulations, but as most of these came while I was at a lecture (that was very good and that I enjoyed immensely, btw), I only answered the one that asked me a concrete question about the location of the birthday party. For that I appologize, at least to the ones among you that actually read my LJ.

Oh well, back to fairy tale and folklore elements in Jane Eyre and Silas Marner...

Just a quick update, because I feel like it and it's been a while.

Easter has come and gone, and just like last year, time that was supposed to be used on school assignments ended up being used on statting up rpg characters. A backup concept for mage this time, based on Sarah from Labyrinth. We had accidentally brought the movie with us, so I ended up with watching it one evening with my parents after Gran had gone to bed. Due to the fact that I'd brought mage-books to read up on stuff my mage-character should know a thing or two about, I ended up seeing the movie as a shadowplay of an Acanthus-awakening. Speaking of Labyrinth, lookie at my new userpic! ^_^ *luvs it very much*

Currently I'm working on the ENG2303-assignment, which is due 4th of April. 4th of April is also the date for my appointment with the doctor. And it's the date on which I have planned to host a birthday party for myself and [info]balroggie, something I'm lagging a bit behind on in regards to invites and such. Which means it will be the busy end of a busy week, as I will have extra lectures in ENG2303 to attend that week. Which again means that I might have to skip out on roleplaying if I'm going to make any progress with the assignment. And I'm feeling a bit guilty, because I'm still not done with the sewing job I'm supposed to do for Marianne, and the way things are now I severely doubt I'll be so before we're well into April. Not to mention that I'm feeling a bit anxious, because I today suddenly started thinking about ALIT2203 and how there has been no mention on It's learning about the deadline for handing in curriculum lists for approval. Since I missed the last lecture before the easter vacation, I'm worried that something might have been said then and that I've missed both that and the deadline. Meh...

In other news, I'll be going to a small reunion party tomorrow, and I'm really looking foreward to it ^^ I'll be cathing up with the people I shared class with for 9 years, and that I haven't seen in 8 years. I'm just so curious about how they've all turned out so far.

My health is really getting on my nerves now. For the last couple of weeks, how I feel has been fluctuating wildly, ranging from a little yucky but otherwise just peachy to knocked out on the sofa with fever/nausea/aching limbs/sore throat/headache/combination of two or more. It would be nice if my immune system could make up its fucking mind about whether or not I'm sick.
The result; this is the second friday in a row where I've had to skip the lecture. Yesterday, on the other hand, when I had nothing to do but stay home and chill, I was just fine. *sigh*

Adding to the crankiness is the fact that I seem to be having a problem with customs over a package I've ordered from the UK. It is the first time ever I've encountered such a hitch when ordering stuff from abroad, but then again, this is the most expensive suff I've ordered from abroad...

Hehehe... I just watched Calls for C'thulu on Youtube, and it was fun ^^

I am up surprisingly early considering it's a sunday morning. Normally I'd probably start stirring right about now, but today I'm now awake, dressed and half-way done with my breakfast.

Yesterday was great ^_^ I had [info]eldir, [info]nedyfay and [info]balroggie w/ boyfriend over for dinner (lasagne and chili-chicken-salad), followed by dessert (butterfly cakes) and movie night (X-men and half of X-men 2).

I've been thinking alot about my WoD-character lately, the norwegian exchange student Andrea Holm. More precisely, I've been thinking about in character reasons for certain of her attributes to be increased with xp. The attributes in question are Intelligence(from 2 to 3), Resolve(from 3 to 4), Stamina(2 to 3), Manipulation(2 to 3) and Composure(2 to 3)(on second thought, having her lose her temper is too much fun). Especially Resolve is something I want to increase before she Awakens, and if I get 4xp from todays session, I will have enough to do so. I even have in character explanations for why; already before getting mixed up with the group she was resolved, but then to learn about the supernatural to prevent it from pouncing her without warning. ("Warning! Warning! You're about to be abducted by aliens!" ^^) Then she got tangled up with some of the stuff that happened in San Francisco, and now her boyfriend is missing in action, leaving her so resolved to get him back that she, against her very principles, is willing to entertain the idea of making a deal with Mr. Stabby. And then there was Florence. I feel that what Andrea saw and heard under that conversation has subtly changed her, making her resolved not only to get her boyfriend back, but to even after that keep delving into whatever is going on. She feels she has more or less been chosen, or at least that everything that now happens to her in some way is the result of her unwillingness as a child to leave behind the silver key after using it to get home. And she'd be damned if she didn't take the responsibility of her own actions! (Norwegian Fortitude/Pride Combo ftw!) And this newfound resolve to stand tall and proud in the face of the consequenses of her past choices is what I intend to use as the reason for why she's now willing to sit down with Mr. Stabby and try to make a deal that will get him out of her hair and still let her keep the key. Responsible as it may be for her current annoyances, she's been holding on to it for too long to just give it up now that the going has gotten tough.

EDIT: Awake I may be, but I still missed the 12.14 buss...
unicorn
It's 8:30 and I'm awake, waiting for a repairman to come and look at our washing machine. He could be coming anytime between now and 12:00.

My in theory last semestre starts next week, and so far I have signed up for ENG2303 and ENG2403 on monday, and (purely for social reasons) HFEL0004 on friday. And I'm in a bit of a pickle, because all these subjects are 7.5-subjects, which is acceptable enough considering I only really need two subjects this semestre to reach the 180sp-goal. The pickle is in the fact that reaching 180 isn't enough; I need 22.5sp worth of english subjects to qualify for the bachelor in english, 15 of which I will get from the monday lectures. Which means I'm going to need one more ENG2-subject. But because NTNU prioritize the science-hill, the only one still left this semestre is ENG2153 (unless the ENG3-subjects(which kinda scare me anyway seeing as they're friggin' master-subjects!!)count). And I would honestly not even have looked twice at it if not for the fact that it's either that, or add one more semestre to my education. Decisions, decisions...

And I still don't know what I got on ENG2302... Stupid Studweb... I got a C, as I expected ^_^

... Ok, so there are things that make being awake this early bearable for someone who doesn't drink coffee, the sunrise being one of them. Pretty colours...

Let's see, what else haven't I talked about for a while... Oh, of course, christmas! It was awesome, and I have a box full of awesome l3wt to show for it ^_^ I'll consider making a brag-list later.

My RPG-characters. (yes, I am trying to make time pass by listing all sorts of random things)
Horror - We had the first session of the year last tuesday, and it was also the first session in a while that I actually managed to show up to. It was immensly fun, rping her speaking bad sylvan and taking on a side-quest that involved being praised as a goddess by a tribe of spiders... I am really happy with my little half-vampire ^_^
Eberron - Wanna play... Tam is getting sick of hiding in her room and feeling sorry for herself for being poisoned...
Changeling - Wanna play... I have so much planned for my little brit that require xp...
Marvel - Wanna play... I have a huge costume-change planned for my little mutant, and she's getting kinda sick of being stuck on that spirit world path...
San Francisco - I'm sure you get it by now :p Anyway, my little norwegian wants her boyfriend back. And I've gotten kinda worked up on what kind of mage she'll Awaken as, as it is a path that I probably wouldn't even have bothered to read up on if [info]eldir hadn't advised me to.

I'll stop now. Maybe go eat some breakfast.

I feel... cautiously optimistic at the moment, something that my brother will testify is quite a miracle considering how horrible this day started. Really, you guys should feel sorry for him and salute him as the über-patient and understanding little brother he has been this last week. The poor thing is actually the only person I've had proper contact with since my aunt visited last sunday, and has thus gotten the entire load of "GAH, SO MUCH HATE OVER THIS EXAM, STRESS IS ME, I'LL NEVER BE DONE IN TIME!!" ... Yeah, poor thing. I'll make it up to him by buying awesome christmas gifts for him.

But speaking of the home exam, I have finished it, and will hand it in tomorrow. If the printer will cooperate and just spit out the 3rd exemplar without skimping out on the ink already. And if I get up at all. Seriously, look at the time this is posted. I've been going to bed at hours like this for the last three or four days, and it has wrecked havoc on my brain. It was pretty much fragile mush from I got out of bed this morning to roughly around 5 hours ago. It was horrible, sitting in front of my laptop for almost 10 hours, barely being able to think or write and knowing I had to get it done before going to bed.

Also, I am just so fucking tired of school now. I don't really care about grades and York anymore, I just wanna pass and finish my bloody bachelor and get it friggin' over with. The fact that I've been working on one assignment or another, with the home exam being the crown of it all, more or less nonstop for the last two month has certainly contributed to this conclusion.

This has also lead to that I am so far behind on christmas presents that it's not even funny. I'm going out on a shopping round after I've handed in the exam tomorrow, and I have to call my aunt to check if she's bought the items I asked her to buy for me if she was shopping at that store anyway. As for the the hand-made things I had planned to give to some of the people on my gift-list, I might have to consider giving them "I.O.U."-notes.

Sleep now. Then shower.

Little brother had friends over for a movie-night tonight. They only just left. Gonna have a hard time getting up tomorrow. Considering not showing up for WoD-session before 15:00, if at all. Too tired to really care about role-playing at the moment.

First week of home-exam-period is almost over, and I'm still on page one. I should have a minimum of 10 pages by the 3rd of december. Should feel guilty and panicky about that. Too tired to care about school at the moment, though.

We have PS3. We have Assassin's Creed. The main character Altair rocks so hard that Chuck Norris can just go join Sirius Black behind the veil. But at the moment I'm too tired to put more enthusiasm in praising the total awesomeness that is Assassin's Creed.

Two updates relatively shortly after one another? Le gasp! Anyway, snagged this little thing from [info]ladyfaithie

Comment and I'll give you a letter. You have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own.

I got the letter "T", so here goes...

1. Tea - the drink of champions.
2. Tigers - such majestic and beautiful felines... Who doesn't love them?
3. Tattoos - gotta get one some day...
4. Towers - there's just something about towers that makes the silly romantic in me go "Wheeeeee!"
5. Trondheim - home, sweet home town ^^
6. Tai-ji - otherwise known as 'yin and yang'. Balance- and harmony-symbology in general tend to be on my yay-list, as the idea of universal balance and existence through contrasts is something that really appeals to me and that I find it easy to believe in.
7. Textiles - Ah, fabrics... So many colours, so many patterns, so much smoothness/softness/whateveryouwant-ness...
8. Tussekongen! - hehe... managed to squeeze in his goblin highness Jareth ^_^ And yes, Goblin King was actually translated to Norwegian as Tussekongen
9. Treasures - of all shapes and sizes; an old arabian perfume bottle, a beautiful porcelain doll, a blue night lamp shaped like a ghost, a mask with lace veil, a drawing made by a friend, a deck of tarot cards...
10. Tellus/Terra - this planet has chocolate and Johnny Depp. 'nuff said.
