"Where you from? Norway? Then you get tax-free!"
MAN, it's been long since I've bothered updating my LJ! A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone, by the way ^_^

Ok, first thing first, I no longer work at Nidar. The season ended, and when you're a season-worker, that sort of stuff does affect you. My last day of work there was wednesday 12th of november. I spent the rest of november being unemployed, then struck gold when I called around for a christmas job on the 1st of december. One of the places I called was Coop Obs! City Syd, and the boss asked me if I could drop by the following day for an interview. I did, and he told me that they would call me thursday at the latest if they wanted to hire me. Later the same day they called me and asked if I could start the next day. So I've been working the register at Coop Obs! since 3rd of december, and things are looking good for me still having a job there now that december has passed. I'll know for sure on saturday, which will be my first day of work since Christmas Eve (and I had a wonderful Christmas, btw, and I loved the gifts I got ^^).

In other news, I got home yesterday from a 5 day trip to Prague! It was a Christmas gift from my parents to me, my little brother and themselves, and it was great! Very tiring, but fun ^_^ We traveled with my aunt Eli and her boyfriend Carl, who had been there before.
While I was there, I wrote a mini journal which I am posting here for your entertainment. I also took several pictures, but they will have to wait til a later post.

Prague, day 1 (27.12.08)
Well, what do you know. I'm in Prague, ready to go to bed after my first day here. Aside from the fact that we had to get up at 4am this morning to get to the airport in time, today has been a pretty damn good day. The flight was wonderfully uneventful (meaning I only got a little nauseous), and the hotel apartment we've rented is in standard well beyond what I would have expected for the price. We've visited two different chez. restaurants today (first for lunch, then for dinner), and during our first quest fo a place to eat I noticed several stores in which I probably will end up parting with large sums of money. I also got a chance to take pictures of that awesome astrological clock.

Prague, day 2 (28.12.08)
Finally I've gotten to do some shopping! Man, when following Eli and Carl around, stopping to buy something is difficult. Today we went to see the Charles bridge (named after Charles IV) and then wandered around trying to find a restaurant Eli remembered that served potato soup in a bowl made of bread. We found the restaurant, but they didn't serve that specific dish anymore. We ate there anyway before going back to the hotel to sign up for a tour and boat trip (with dinner included), and then me and Joakim were finally free to go shopping! We went to the New Yorker and Marks & Spencer to shop for clothes, I bought an adorable dragon marionette in a marionette shop, we roamed around just looking in one of the many shopping malls here in Prague, and on our way back I stopped by the "Palace of Books" (HUGE bookstore) and bought some trinkets and looked at posters/pictures. Then it was back to the hotel to get ready for the tour, which was quite pleasant.

Prague, day 3 (29.12.08)
Strangely enough, yet more shopping was done today. Joakim and I managed to drag dad with us (mom remained at the hotel to give her poor aching feet some rest) back to Marks & Spencer and the New Yorker so that he could give some financial aid to my little brother's quest for new clothes. Then we headed towards the awesome clock, partly so that my dad could buy tickets to a church concert for himself and mom, but mostly so that we could get some footage of the twelve apostles. I got seriously sidetracked on the way by a store calling itself Crystal World, in which many objects were bought, and I only barely managed to get to the clock in time. I should probably go back there tomorrow, though, and try to film it from a better angle. Then we went back to the hotel and just chilled til mom and dad left for the concerts (yes, they went to two different ones in a row), at which time Joakim and I agreed to split up and go on separate shopping rounds before meeting for dinner. And dear lord, I shopped. I'm gonna have to take pictures of it all when I get home. And I'm still not done shopping! I still need new shoes and a new jacket, and hats, and I've booked an hour of herbal massage for tomorrow at 4pm, and I have gifts to buy, and I want that wizard marionette (if only I can find a smaller version of him)...
Anyway, I met up afterwards with Joakim, and we went to an italian restaurant for dinner, and made it back to the hotel before our parents.

Prague, day 4 (30.12.08)
I wonder just how much money I'll be leaving behind here in Prague... Today began with all four of us going shoe shopping. The primary goal was to find good, affordable winter shoes, but I ended up buying a second pair of leather gloves and a pair of indoor shoes. And due to some miscommunication (me telling my family to keep an eye on my bag and they not hearing that part and not noticing that I left it behind with them), some bloke almost walked out of the store with my bag! Fortunately my brother noticed it in time and prevented the potential loss of a camera, an umbrella, my house key and pain killers, alot of pens and random junk, and my collection of buttons. After all of this we looked through some random stores, then stopped for lunch at a theater cafe. I had to leave before we got the bill, though, as the clock was starting to approach 16:00, the time of my herbal massage, and I needed some time to orientate myself. I actually went the wrong way at first, which led to me finding yet another shoe shop in which I found (and bought) a pair of winter shoes on sale before I realised my folly and turned back, managing to get where I was going 15 minutes before the appointment. And let me just say right away, the herbal massage was not what I had expected it to be. Basically, it was thai massage (ouch) combined with the use of two really hot herb-filled bags/pouches/thingies warmed up in what I think was a rice steamer while the masseuse wrestled with the knots in my shoulders and walked(!) on my legs and lower back. I can tell right now that I'm going to be sore for days. Afterwards I did some more shopping before returning to the hotel to wait for the rest of my family to get back. Once they did, we went out for our last dinner here in Prague.

Prague, day 5 (31.12.08)
And so the journey draws to an end... I got up early today to shower, pack my suitcase and eat breakfast before rushing down to the awesome clock to finally get that better shot that I forgot to get yesterday. Then we headed off to the airport, and here I am, passing the time. My new suitcase, Gah, looks like it has been through years of travel, the poor thing. And I am rather impressed with my packing skills. The limit for how heavy a piece of luggage can be is 20kg, and when we weighed it at check-in, my suitcase came in at 20,1 kg. Anyway, I've done some last minute shopping (mostly gifts), some tax-free shopping, and I've had lunch. I will be home well in time for the New Year's Eve party tonight, and I will be showing up wearing new shoes, new gloves, new jewelry, a new top and a new top hat ^_^
